A Legendary Brewery
The Japan Brewery Company, the forerunner of Kirin, was founded over a hundred years ago in 1885. Just three years later, in 1888, the brewing of Kirin beer began. 1990 saw the launch of Kirin Ichiban Shibori, a unique brew made exclusively from the first press of the wort. Today, Kirin Ichiban is brewed by partners all over the world. As the world’s only first press beer, Kirin Ichiban is the true embodiment of beer at its purest.
The Legendary Kirin Beast
Kirin refers to a mythic beast from ancient Chinese mythology: one half dragon, one half deer. According to legend, this amazing animal refuses to step on living plants and will not eat living things. A Kirin is even said to have appeared at the bedside of the mother of Confucius as she was about to give birth to her son. As a symbol of well-being and good fortune, the Kirin is the perfect embodiment of Kirin Ichiban.
